The petition was raised by a consumer advisory group, Flyer Rights. According to this advisory group, when large passengers are on board, reduced space of and between seats will create delay for those large passengers to get out from their seats or to get settled in their seats. During an emergency evacuation, these shrink seats will become a life threat to those large passengers.

Flyer Rights also submitted data from Centre for Disease Control and Prevention as per its data, average American is growing significantly larger when comparing to previous years’ data.

  • Adult man weighs 191 pounds.
  • Adult woman weighs 164 pounds.
